World Wildlife Day 2017
On the 3rd of March 2017 World Wildlife Day will be celebrated under the theme “Listen to the Young Voices” in order to encourage the young generation, our future leaders and decision makers of the world to act as both local and global levels to protect endangered wildlife.
Sri Lanka been one of the of the finest wildlife watching countries in South Asia gifted with great herds of elephants, enormous whales, elusive leopards, beautiful dolphins, hundreds of colorful birds and reefs swarming with rainbow-colored fish is truly a magnificent sight to see. Sadly most of these are disappearing due to human negligence.
World Wildlife day encourages youth around the world to rally together to address ongoing major threats to wildlife including habitat change, over-exploitation or illicit trafficking. Youth are the agents of change.
In fact we are already seeing a change, by youth stepping forward to save wildlife through social media, online articles, blogs, campaigns ect…. If they can make a change so can we.
JLanka the pioneers of the Solar Power industry makes an extra effort to the economy by lowering its dependence on fossil fuels and reducing the country’s carbon footprint through the implementation of the ‘Green Energy’ concept. These concepts are a step forward to save our natural habitat.
As citizens of this beautiful nation we should strive to protect our wildlife and their habitats and help our future generation make a better tomorrow, after all it is our responsibility.
As this year’s theme says – “Do one thing today to protect our world’s wildlife – listen to the young voices.”
